Partially inspired by the New York Times bestseller Beginning of Infinity, by David Deutsch, Photon will summarize human knowledge of the universe sometime in 2013. The story is presented in the form of three visual, almost non-voice narrated lectures, divided by traditional cinematic scenes involving actors. Nearest example are Koyaanisquatsi, Microcosmos or Tree of Life. The first twenty minutes of the film (“Origins”) is a visually rich lecture devoted to the origin of matter, stars and planets. I do not care about excessive poetic pathos (like Tree of Life) or about achieving the warm documentary tone of the BBC series Life, which is packed with special effects foreshadowing the contents. By avoiding equations from the field of chemistry and physics, which are often offputting even for sophisticated viewers, the film will present even the most difficult phenomena in an accessible manner. This part of the film, as well as others, will have a scientific and educational value.
